Hi,

Thanks for the very good article.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts (or anyone else's for that matter) on why MediaWiki is not a suitable option for a corporate wiki?

For additional background: I'm working in a large international organization that has just horribly unflexible information systems and that imho should - and quite easily could - have an internal wiki to share the pooled knowledge of the organization and also participate more in knowledge sharing in the open internet. My thinking in short is that if the internal wiki (I've managed to sell such idea to our department director) would be MediaWiki then it would be easy to copy information from the internal wiki to Wikipedia should the pilot fly an people would start sharing their information.

Thanks!

Hola Vincent,

thanks for the information :-), I'll update the article. And yes, definitely the web site is much improved and gives a better first impression. Looking forward to that new collaboration tool you're working on.

Best regards,

Hola Miguel,

Nice roundup. Just wanted to drop a note to mention that XWiki does have a WYSIWYG editor. One thing that differentiates it from the other wikis too is that it provides a generic platform for developing almost any type of collaborative web applications, the wiki (XWiki Enterprise) being one such application. We have 4 other products (all open source of course) including a Collaborative RSS feed reader, which uses the GWT API of the XWiki platform.

We've also just released a new version of the http://xwiki.org web site which a much improved skin (IMO anyway ;)).

Thanks again

Hasta luego

Hi Jonathan,

glad you like it: your opinion is certainly qualified :-).

Out of the three leaders (corporate-backed, solid offerings), Atlassian is the one I have least hands-on experience with... but I do plan to correct that as soon as I can :-).

Thanks again and best regards,

Hi Miguel,

Great roundup of the current state of the enterprise wiki market. Very thorough analysis.

Just wanted to say hi, and if there are any questions that I can answer for your about Confluence, just let me know.

Good luck with your search.

Cheers,
Jonathan @ atlassian
